Lana
Parrilla
Lana
Parrilla was born in Brooklyn, New York, on
July 15, 1977. Her mother is an Italian painter/artist and her Puerto
Rican father was a professional baseball player. After graduating from
high school, she moved to Los Angeles to study acting and anthropology.
She made her film debut in the sci-fi horror film, "Spiders" before
joining the cast of "Spin City" in a recurring role during the
2000-2001 season. She lives in Los Angeles with her two Bengal
cats, Stanley and Lenny.
Lana won an
Imagen Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for
her role as paramedic Teresa Ortiz.
Teresa Ortiz promised
her dying mother that, for the rest of her life, she would do whatever
it takes
to save people's lives. She did this, first, as a paramedic, and
then
decided to enter the police academy. Practically perfect, she has
one
major flaw - she has fallen in love with a married man, Detective Joel
Stevens.
Lana describes Teresa:
"She's a very loving person,
but
she has her past that has not yet been established, that we will soon
find
out in the upcoming episodes. She's a street- smart girl. She has a
strong
affinity for people."
