Neal McDonough

Neal McDonough was born in Dorchester, Massachussetts on February 13, 1966. He graduated from Syracuse University in 1988, with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and trained at the London Academy of Arts and Sciences. His many theatre credits include "Away Alone", for which he won the 1991 Dramalogue Award for Best Actor. Neal's big-screen debut was a bit part in the 1990 film, "Darkman". Other movie credits include "Ravenous", "Star Trek: First Contact", "Minority Report" and "A Perfect Little Man" for which he won the Best Actor Award at the 2000 Atlantic City Film Festival. He is probably best known for his role as Buck Compton in the Steven Spielberg/Tom Hanks mini-series "Band of Brothers". He is currently engaged to Ruve Robertson, a former model from South Africa.

Neal received a Television Critics Association nomination for Individual Achievement in Drama for his portrayal of DDA David McNorris.

Deputy District Attorney David McNorris is a politically ambitious, morally ambiguous man full of contradictions.  --  His brash, confident demeanor belies his inner self- loathing.   He describes his wife as 'the most beautiful, the most passionate, smartest and funniest woman I have ever met' while attempting to continue an extra-marital affair.  --   His ruthlessness is tempered only by his guilt and his fear of "becoming" his father.   His self-destructive tendencies have ended his marriage, driven away his girlfriend and almost cost him his job.

Neal describes David McNorris:

"David McNorris has a lot of hats.  Sometimes he's white, sometimes he's gray, sometimes he's black."

"He's very much flawed. He drinks too much, opens his mouth too much.  He's a great lawyer and he cares and he wants to be a D.A. badly. He wants to be a politician. There are so many levels to this guy. I can't even tell you who he really is."

"His whole life is just thrown onto a platter and you sift through the garbage, trying to find that small bit of humanity and kindness and gentleness in David McNorris, through all the alcohol and the abusive father -- classic Irish story.  [He has]  to go through the dark side and get out of it himself."
